Last Friday (6th March 2009) I finished work at 4pm and arrived home raring to pack in the case I was moving the following week and to attempt to pack enough so that I could still go and see my Brother in Lincoln. After about 2 hours or so of packing I decided I had enough and couldn't be arsed to do anymore, my friend Kicks was round at this point, we got food and then decided to go out at about midnight.
I got back home at about 8am Saturday morning, my train to Lincoln was at 1030 am and I had a lady round to check something in the flat in between times, so all in all I got 45 minutes sleep. I was wrecked.
Went to Lincoln and was greeted by my Bro and Girlfie at the station after getting off a train that I got in Peterborough, which in my imagination made me feel and think that I was going to a concentration camp to get gassed, thankfully I realised I wasn't stamped with a pink triangle.
I had such an amazing time there, most people's reactions were neither here nor there when I mentioned Lincoln but some were like where? what's there? boring! etc...
Lincoln is beautiful, stunning architecture, stunning streets, an immense Cathedral and a lovely Castle, its not massive but its perfect really.
Saturday evening was started off as a Pub Crawl from the top of Steep Hill (Cathedral is there) to the bottom and it was arranged and organised my Shane, my Brother, who happens to be the President of the Drinking Society which Castleburg need not apply as it is already the best Drinking Society in the world, like ever!
It was a great night! Got pretty sloshed, and drinking certainly eases your nervous, I am an easy going type of guy and I am pretty chilled but I do get worried people won't like me, I guess everyone is like that, but these are my Brother's friends and he is very important to me especially as we only got in contact last year (a whole new blog for that one me thinks), so as my Brother is very important to me then so are his friends. I had previously met 2 or 3 in Edinburgh when I went there as we oddly had the same weekend in the Burgh. I had already met his GF whom I adore heaps!
Sunday was a chilled day really, we went to the Castle, had a very funny time in there!
Monday was Shane's Birthday, it was an amazing day and night, certainly one of my best nights out! Everyone was pretty sloshed I think, I know that Shane was and I know that I was at the very least! We got tees from Primarni and secretly got a picture of Shane transferred on them as a surprise, we then wrote all over everyone, with some of the funniest comments I have seen in my life, my stomach still hurts from laughing so much, particularly one of Shane's flatmates Jon's tee was hysterical, it's a good thing really as Jon is quite possibly one of the funniest people I have ever met, in a weird way and that's no exaggeration!
Some of the comments written were "Gary Glitter is my hero", "Hasn't Jade died yet?", some of the others were alot harsher and most people have lines (I for the record am not one of those) so I shall spare you what else was written and more importantly keep my job by not saying it!
Tuesday was one of Shane's flatmates Birthday's too! We all decided to dress up in fancy dress and not tell him, it worked a treat, was very funny and the night was awesome again. I got the worse drunken injuries I have ever had since I started drinking about 9 years now. I have at times danced myself dizzy and this was one of those occasions, I kept taking running jumps off the stage and sliding across the floor, my knees are scabbed up and very very sore!
Still, I had a great night and ultimately that's all that matters, doesn't it?
I came home begrudgingly on Wednesday, particularly so as I didn't really have a home to go too as I was moving that very night. I was on such a come down from my awesome time there!
Lincoln is a place I would most certainly recommend, for a weekend away with the mates and some shopping and sightseeing.
I have come away from my time there having made loads of new friends, everyone I met just wonderful, very friendly, down to earth, a laugh to be around and just very nice friendly polite genuine people, it's not very often that can be said about people!
I have also come away from the extended weekend knowing my Brother that bit more, and loving him more too! It's just incredible that a year ago I never knew him and now he is one of my favourite people in the world!
That's enough of the slush I think my point has been made - I just can't wait to get my ass up there again, but perhaps come back with some broken bones next time, as scabby knees is just the beginning!
Bless - thats so sweet! Sounds like you had an awesome time :)
